THCP shares THC's core structure but carries a seven-carbon alkyl side chain rather than five. Chain length affects how strongly a cannabinoid binds the CB1 receptor, and THCP's longer chain binds considerably more strongly than Delta-9 THC in laboratory binding assays.
Why it matters when you are reading a label
THCP occurs in vanishingly small quantities naturally. Any product advertising a substantial THCP percentage should be read against its certificate, because the figure is unusual enough to warrant checking.
