What "Microdose (1–2.5mg THC)" means in practice

A microdose is a labelled serving of 2.5 mg THC or less. At 1 mg many people report feeling nothing at all; 2.5 mg is the level most often described as a "threshold" — noticeable to someone with no tolerance, easy to miss for anyone who consumes regularly. This is the band to start in if you have never had an edible, and the band to stay in if you want a light effect you can function through.

Two practical points. First, because the numbers are small, the gap between label and laboratory matters more here than anywhere else — a product labelled 2.5 mg that measures 3.2 mg is nearly a third stronger than promised. Second, low-dose products are often sold in larger counts, so the per-container total can be substantial; store them away from children.

Label versus laboratory

Every card above shows two numbers. Label is the dose the manufacturer prints on the package. Lab measured is the THC per serving a third-party laboratory found in the batch it tested, taken from the certificate of analysis. Where the second figure is a dash, the product has not yet had a batch result parsed into our database; the certificate itself is still linked on the listing.

Small differences are normal — manufacturing tolerance and measurement uncertainty both apply. A result below the laboratory's limit of quantitation is reported as non-detect, which is not the same as zero. Across the catalogue we hold 4,395 readings from 312 batches and 39 laboratories; you can look any batch number up.

Frequently asked questions

Will 2.5mg of THC get me high?

For most people without tolerance, 2.5 mg produces a mild, noticeable effect rather than a strong one. At 1 mg many people feel little. Individual response varies considerably.

Is microdosing edibles safe for beginners?

It is the most conservative way to start, which is the point. Take one serving, wait two hours, and do not stack doses. Nothing here is medical advice.

How long does a microdose last?

Onset is 30–120 minutes and effects commonly last 3–5 hours at this level, shorter than higher doses.

Will these show up on a drug test?

Yes. Any product containing THC can be detected by a screening test, regardless of dose or format. See our guide to hemp and drug testing.

Chow420 lists products from independent sellers. Nothing on this page is medical advice. Products containing THC are for adults only. Figures describe the specific batch a laboratory tested rather than every unit produced.
